Abstract
1446787 Control and ignition system for a burner JOH VAILLANT KG 22 Nov 1974 50719/74 Heading F4F In a control system of a burner, power is fed via a normally closed switch 9 to a flame detecting device 4 which controls a normally closed switch 8, an igniting coil 12 which is in series with the switch 8 and a voltage-rectifying network 24 in series with a resistor 27. The D.C. power from the network 24 is then fed to the actuating mechanism 22 of a solenoid valve (i.e. either the solenoid or a relay switch) which is in series with a bimetal relay 19 controlling the switch 9. The power to the relay 19 and actuating mechanism 22 is boosted by a line 17 with a diode 18 connected between the switch 8 and the coil 12. With the switch 8 closed, the power is just sufficient to actuate the relay and open switch 9 cutting off all power. If, however, fuel is ignited and a flame maintained and detected, within the actuating time of the bimetal relay then valve 20 is opened and power to the ignition coil is cut off as well as the booster power to the relay so that it fails to operate and the valve is maintained open. In a modification the switch 9 is moved from the input power line to a position in series with the valve actuating mechanism. The device 4 may be a photo-cell or an ionization monitoring device.
