Abstract

1,175,787. Burner control. LANDIS & GYR A.G. 16 July, 1968 [20 July, 1967], No. 33909/68. Heading F4T. An air supply monitoring and control device for blower burners fired by gas or oil comprises an air flap control means 20 which opens an air flap to ventilate the burner on starting and at least partially closes the air flap for ignition of the fuel, a mechanism 6 responsive to the pressure of the air fed to the burner, and a programme control motor 23, wherein a contact 8 of the mechanism 6 is connected into a start circuit of the burner and at least one contact actuated by the air flap control means is connected into a circuit of the programme control motor. When A.C. voltage is applied to terminals 1, 25, a switch 7 is closed and a current flows to the winding 12 of a relay A causing contacts 3 and 4 to close which allows current to flow to the winding 15 of a blower motor and a motor 21 of the air flap control means via a cam selector switch 13 which is controlled by the programme control motor and a limit selector switch 18, to open the air flap. As soon as the air flap is open, the limit selector switch 18 changes over to pass current to the programme control motor via a lead 22 and a cam selector switch 14, which is also controlled by the programme control motor, to begin the ventilation period. At the end of this period cam selector switch 13 changes over to a contact 17 and current flows to the motor 21 via a limit selector switch 19 to close the air flap, the programme control motor being inoperative whilst the motor 21 is operating. When the air flap is closed the motor 21 is cut out and the programme control motor is cut in by the switch 19. After a predetermined time the switch 14 changes over so that the programme control motor receives current directly from the contact 4 and not via the air flap control means. These means can then be set to any required position. If no air pressure is registered by the mechanism 6 then a selector switch 5 does not change over to a contact 9 which is connected to an ignition circuit and fuel supply valves of the burner, thus preventing supply and ignition of fuel.
