Abstract
1444699 Electrolytic stripping of metallic coatings HOECHST AG 18 Dec 1974 [20 Dec 1973] 54614/74 Heading C7B An aqueous electrolytic bath for removing metallic coatings, e.g. Ni, Cr, Zn, Sn, Cu, Cd, or Ag plate, from steel parts, contains nitric acid and/ or one or more of its salts with inorganic and/or organic bases, e.g. between 15 and 60 g/l of alkali metal hydroxide, ammonium hydroxide, an aliphatic amine and/or aminoalcohol; one or more organic acids and/or their salts, e.g. between 10 and 40 g/l of formic, acetic, propionic, oxalic, malonic, lactic and/or citric; and a water-soluble iodine compound, e.g. between 0.05 and 1.0 g/l of alkali metal or ammonium iodide, or cuprous iodide in total proportion greater than solubility. The pH may be between 6.5 and 7.5.
