Abstract

1507816 Treating metal surfaces with tannin containing solution PYRENE CHEMICAL SERVICES Ltd 8 Feb 1977 [9 Feb 1976] 05038/77 Heading C7U A process for forming a coating on a surface of aluminium, magnesium or an alloy thereof, comprising contacting the surface with an aqueous solution which has a pH of from 1 to 7 and which comprises a titanium or zirconium salt and a substance selected from tannin and tannic acid and its derivatives. The solution may additionally comprise phosphoric, polyphosphoric, tripolyphosphoric, hexametaphosphoric, organic phosphoric acid or salt thereof, other inorganic acid and organic acid or salt thereof and complexing agents and a salt of Mo, W, V, Fe, Co, Ni, Zn, or Sn.
