Abstract
A copper-tin alloy is deposited on e.g. a ferrous wise from an aqueous acid sulphate solution containing cu and sn ions in the ratio of cu cu + sn = 0.1 to 0.8 and containing one or more of the amino acids glutamic, aspartic, and glycine, the pH being 0.1 to 2.0 and the temperature 15 to 66 DEG C. The pH is adjusted by adding sodium acid sulphate, sulphuric acid or sodium hydroxide. In an example a solution comprises (g.11.) SnSO4 11.56, CuSO4.H2O8.3, NaH2SO4 14.9, gelatin (which hydrolizes to form the amino acid) 0.92, H2SO4 6.1.
