Abstract

1442580 Matrix displays INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP 15 Jan 1975 [4 March 1974] 1662/75 Heading G5C Display apparatus comprises a gas discharge display/memory panel with crossed conductor arrays, in which information is written in at one side and shifted across the panel to selected sites and means to sustain a discharge at the selected sites and at the adjacent sites from which the discharges moved thereby enlarging the size of each display site. This is achieved by applying sustaining pulses to pairs of adjacent electrodes of a panel e.g. as described in Specification 1,426,826. The display of Fig. 3 can be moved vertically one site and sustain pulses applied also to adjacent horizontal conductors to sustain discharges in four cells for every selected site.
