1440255 Branch pipe connections WAVIN BV 17 Sept 1973 [18 Sept 1972] 43610/73 Heading F2G A branch pipe 5 is connected to a main pipe 1 by a saddle member 2 having a tubular part 3 with an internal screw thread 4 corresponding to an external thread 6 on the branch pipe 5. The branch pipe 5 and the tube 3 also each have a smooth cylindrical section 13, 14 and a ring 12 provides a seal while allowing the angular position of the branch pipe 5 to be adjustable through 360 degrees, the distance between the free end 10 of the tube 3 and the end 11 of the screw thread 4 being at least equal to the pitch of the threads 4, 6. In another arrangement the positions of the smooth wall portions and threaded portions of the pipe 5 and tube 3 are reversed.
