Abstract

1439806 Marine propellers MITSUI SHIPBUILDING & ENG CO Ltd 7 June 1973 27223/73 Heading B7V [Also in Division F1] A marine propeller is driven via an outer ring 3 which is secured to the propeller blades 1 and which rotates in bearings 4 in a housing 2. The propeller is driven by an electric motor comprising a stator 7 and a squirrel cage rotor 9 which is secured to the ring 3. Entry of water into the housing 2 is prevented by seals 5 and by the admission of compressed air through a pipe 11.
