Abstract

1437853 Spark gaps SIEMENS AG 21 June 1974 [6 Nov 1973] 27600/74 Heading H1D A surge voltage arrester comprises a tubular body 3 made of a semiconducting material, and two electrodes 1 or 2 mounted in gas-tight fashion to face one another at respective ends of said body. The semiconducting material may be a doped metal oxide, e.g. zinc oxide and/or titanium oxide and/or copper oxide and/or iron oxide, doped with bismuth oxide or cobalt oxide. The body 3 has a shoulder at each end so that the arrester can be readily installed in a tubular metal holder. An additional central annular metal electrode may be provided.
