959,298. Spark apparatus. TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L. M. ERICSSON. March 10, 1961 [March 11, 1960], No. 8948/61. Heading H1D. A gas-discharge tube for use as an overvoltage protector has two bi-metallic electrodes 5, 6 forming a discharge gap, the electrodes being adapted to short-circuit the discharge gap when heated, and each electrode having a coating of weakly radio-active material 10, 11 disposed on the sides of the electrodes facing each other, a light dispersion of a fine dust of a light metal being provided on the inside wall of the tube. Each electrode is provided with a molybdenum tip 8, 9. The metal powder is preferably aluminium which becomes oxidized, the oxide coating on the particles serving as an insulator at relatively low voltages.
