Abstract
1354792 Spark gaps COMPAGNIE GENERALE D'ELECTRICITE 14 Sept 1971 [16 Sept 1970] 42878/71 Heading H1D A spark gap comprises two main electrodes 2, 4 the former having an aperture 10 in its active face leading to a hollow interior in which is situated a triggering electrode 12 which is larger in cross-section than aperture 10 and which is separated from electrode 2 by a layer of dielectric material 18 which is less than 50 microns thick. The layer 18 can be either an insulating metallic oxide, such as alumina or the oxide of the material of electrode 2 or 12, or can be a sheet of synthetic dielectric.
