Abstract

1297842 Lightning arresters GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 25 March 1970 [4 April 1969] 14513/70 Heading H2H A lightning arrester comprises an insulating housing 2 provided with terminals 3, 4, spark gap assemblies 13, 17 connected in series with a non-linear resistance valve 7 and a number of resistors 10-12 electrically connected in series and shunt connected across the spark gap assemblies, the resistors being stacked between the spark gap assemblies and the housing. The resistors 10-12, which are formed of non- linear resistance material, have a C-shaped cross-section and a continuous strip of conductive metal is deposited on their upper and lower surfaces. Adjacent spark gap assemblies such as the assemblies 13, 17 are connected by contact plates 16, 16a between which a compression spring is positioned. A conductive strap 18 connects contact plates 4a, 8.
