1330623 Surge voltage diverters SIEMENS AG 24 Jan 1972 [25 Jan 1971] 3202/72 Heading H1D A surge voltage diverter comprises electrodes 1 surrounded by a coaxial electrode 3, the electrodes being separated by insulating rings 2 which are partially shielded from the discharge by metallic parts 4 and 6, and the electrodes having contact portions 8 which project beyond the general outline of the envelope. Ionization may be promoted by a spot of radio-active material in the envelope or by including tritium or krypton 85 in the filling gas.
