Abstract
1435781 Generating combustion products under pressure NISSAN MOTOR CO Ltd 5 April 1973 [12 April 1972 18 April 1972(2) 9 Sept 1972] 16392/73 Heading F1L [Also in Division F4] Combustion unit 12 provides for the combustion of solid, e.g. plastics, liquid or gaseous fuel, e.g. L. P. G. or H2, with oxygen produced by the enothermic decomposition of H 2 O 2 , e.g. by a silver catalyst. A supplementary fluid, e.g. water or air, is fed into the combustion chamber 16 under the control of a valve (30), Fig. 1 (not shown). The fuel may be fed continuously or in cycles. As shown a plastics rod 46 is fed by a piston 60 into the combustion chamber 16 to an extent determined by a stop 66 and water is injected through a nozzle 38. In a further embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), the combustion chamber (72) is defined by the bore of a plastics tube (68) and water flows into a chamber downstream of the bore through apertures (78) in the wall of the chamber to mix with the combustion gases. A further embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown), water and fuel injection nozzles (38, 80) project through a refractory combustion chamber lining (54). The hot gases may be used to heat a steam engine boiler or operate a gas turbine.
