1435710 Fluid-pressure servomotor systems J ROTHWELL 23 Oct 1973 [24 Oct 1972] 48917/72 Heading G3P A float-controlled liquid supply valve comprises a cylinder 1 having a liquid inlet 5 and an outlet 8 and containing a piston 9 with a through-bore 13 communicating inlet pressure to a chamber 14 at one end of the piston. Chamber 14 has a leak-off passage 7 controlled by a float actuated needle valve 18 such that opening of the latter to vent chamber 14 causes piston 9 to move leftwards and permit liquid to flow from inlet 5 to outlet 8. Piston 9 carries a sealing ring 12. The piston may be stepped and is supported by diaphragms 10, 11 of respectively smaller and larger outer effective diameter. All parts may be of plastics material, cylinder 1 being formed in three parts 2, 3, 4 bolted together.
