Abstract
1,157,516. Digester valve. BELOIT CORP. 15 Sept., 1966 [20 Oct., 1965], No. 41313/66. Heading B1X. A pressure vessel assembly comprises a pressure vessel 18 having at least one opening 20; means, for injecting material into and for sealing the vessel and including valve member 100, a valve mounting, and conduit 14 for introduction of e.g. wood chips; valve member 100 including a substantially conical body 102 disposed in the path of liquids entering the vessel for .scattering the liquids; the valve member further having a delivery pipe 112 secured to it within means 68 housing the pipe, the valve mounting being adapted to move the valve member from a retracted position when the valve member seals opening 20 to an extended position when the Valve member is inside the vessel; valve delivery pipe 112 reciprocating the valve member in a substantially straight predetermined path; the valve mounting including cylinder 86 enclosing fluid-operated piston 94 and shaft 96 attached to the piston, the .shaft extending through delivery pipe 112 and being connected to the valve member to produce the reciprocal movement of the latter; delivery pipe 112 having at least one outlet opening 116 adjacent Valve member 100 for injecting material e.g. digestion liquor into the vessel; conduit 68 including means for forming a liquid passageway 78 communicating through the conduit 68 With the interior of delivery pipe 112 when the pipe is in its extended position.
