Abstract
Improvements introduced into a free floating piston valve, comprising a housing having an inlet port or opening and an outlet port or opening, a valve piston movable within said housing between a seated position where the valve is closed and an open position, said valve being positioned during operation, such that the valve piston is essentially movable along a vertical line, the seated position of the piston being at its lower displacement end, forming the interior of said housing above said piston a piston working chamber, a communication passage being provided to allow limited circulation between said working chamber and the area below said piston, and a first control valve to connect the working chamber to a low pressure region to cause said piston valve to open and to isolate said working chamber from d said low pressure region to cause said piston valve to close, characterized by a pressure vessel connected to said control chamber that can be brought into communication by a second control valve, and by means for opening said second control valve when said first control valve is closed to feed pressurized fluid from said container to said control chamber to move the piston to its seated position.
