Abstract

1435601 Emptying tank by fluidization THIBODAUX BOILER WORKS Inc 6 March 1973 [4 Dec 1972] 10829/73 Heading B8A Pulverulent material is fluidized and discharged from a tank having top and bottom outwardly curved part spherical pressure walls by a plurality of air slides mounted, in the base of the tank and separated from each other by walls, such that the aerated contents of the tank flow downwardly and inwardly over the air slides to a discharge line. In the figure tank 1 is provided with a feed line 5 and a discharge line 11. Air slides are mounted in channel-shaped plates 8 which are seated in valleys separated from each other by sloping walls 7. An air inlet in the base of each plate 8 corresponds to an air inlet in the respective air slide. A moisture barrier 17 is mounted over the inlet in each plate and an inverted channel-shaped member 20 mounted over the air slide air inlet acts as an air diffuser. The air slide is covered with a replaceable permeable cover 9. The downward slope of the air slides towards the centre above which the discharge line 11 opens assists the required flow of the aerated contents. Air enters the plenum chamber below plates 8 via inlet line 10.
