1432824 Seals ELECTRICITY COUNCIL and JOHNSON & NEPHEW (NON-FERROUS) Ltd 28 Aug 1974 [6 Sept 1973] 41979/73 Heading F2B In continuously processing strip material, e.g. coating wire by vacuum spluttering or heating it by electron beam bombardment, the wire passes into vacuum chamber 4, with small clearance through sealing dies 20, 31, 40 and 41 and with greater clearance through the bore of split nylon cylinders 26 and 45. The dies may be of tungsten carbide or diamond. When used with wire of rectangular cross-section, the dies may be adjustable. A chamber 12 may be evacuated to an intermediate pressure and may contain a tapered guide, to assist initial threading of the wire.
