Abstract

1362735 Feeding webs BEKAERT SA NV 27 April 1972 [27 April 1971] 19671/72 Heading B8R [Also in Division C7] A wire or strip 1 is fed through, e.g. a vacuum evaporation coating apparatus by guides 8 having convergent walls, at least one of the guides being movable longitudinally from outside the apparatus. As shown the guide 8 in the evaporation crucible 3 is moved out of the crucible after the strip has been guided through the crucible. Where the strip changes direction, a pulley 11 has a guide 12. Cooling rollers 13 and driving rollers 24 may be moved transversely during feeding. In a modification (Fig. 2b, not shown) the guides may be in the form of convergent plates.
