Abstract

1344874 Feeding strip CREUSOT-LOIRE 19 April 1971 [8 May 1970 17 July 1970] 25286/71 Heading B3W [Also in Divisions B8 and F2] For driving or braking strip 1 passing round a roller 3, particularly metal strip to subject it to a selected degree of traction during a working operation, fluid is supplied to a jack 7 to urge a shoe 5 towards the region of the roller in which the strip will be received against the action of fluid supplied to a chamber 5A between the shoe and roller, a thin fluid cushion being formed between the shoe edge and the strip to prevent the shoe from rubbing the strip. A valve 11 allows for an adjustable pressure loss in the fluid supply to the chamber 5A.
