Abstract
1431548 Electro-depositing platinum ENGELHARD INDUSTRIES Ltd 12 Sept 1973 [21 Sept 1972] 43833/72 Heading C7B Bright platinum is electro-deposited on to a metal or alloy, e.g. Ta, Ti, Mo or Ni-flashed brass, using an acid electrolyte comprising a solution obtained by reacting Pt (NH 3 ) 2 (NO 2 ) 2 or "P" salt with a mixture of two or more phosphoric acids, preferably containing at least 40 wt per cent each of H 3 PO 4 and H 4 P 2 O 7 , with or without one or more polyphosphoric acids e.g. H 5 P 3 O 10 ; NH 4 H 2 PO 4 or (NH 4 ) 2 HPO 4 may be added as stabilizer. The "P" salt may be prepared by reacting NaNO 2 with (NH 4 ) 2 PtCl 6 . Pt or Pt coated Ti anodes may be used.
