Abstract
The solution is aqueous and stable, has pH 1.2 to 3.0 and comprises (a) ruthenium ions complexed by an organic acid, (b) sulphamate ions and (c) ammonium ions. Method of preparation optionally comprises heating an aqueous solution of an RU (III) compound and an organic acid, and adding sulphamic acid and an ammonium salt to pH 1.2 to 3.0. Preferred compounds and amounts are ruthenium trichloride, 0.1 to 20 g total free and complexed acetic acid per 1., 10 to 300 g total free and complexed sulphamic acid per l. 1 to 75 g ammonium sulphamate per l, and 1 to 50 g R mu per l of solution.
