Abstract

Compounds of the general formula (R = C 1-7 alkyl, R 1 = H, halogen, NO 2 or CF 3 , R 2 = H or halogen, R 3 = H or CHO) are prepared by reacting a compound of the formula with benzaldehyde or a halobenzaldehyde in the presence of formic acid, optionally followed by hydrolysis.
