Cylinders, construction of and cooling. -- The cylinder barrel is provided with flanges 3 which engage the end of the water jacket 1 and are - secured at the top merely by the combustion head 4, which is formed in one piece with the top of the water jacket, and is held down by long studs 7 screwed into the base of the jacket. The joint between the barrel and the head may be plane or spigoted, and the jacket may be in one with the top of the crank chamber.
