1428686 Valve seat insert material HONDA GIKEN KOGYO and SUMITOMO ELECTRIC INDUSTRIES Ltd 15 June 1973 [20 June 1972 29 Dec 1972] 28606/73 Heading F1B [ Also in Division C7] An internal combustion engine valve seat insert is made from an austenitic steel which contains 0.2-10% Pb and/or 0.5-8% glass, based on the total weight of the material, to which may optionally be added one or more of In; Sn, Sb, Bi, Cd and/or oxides thereof. The composition of the steel may be:- the balance apart from impurities, being iron. Making the inserts by casting or powder metallurgy and infiltration is disclosed.
