Abstract
1428013 Fluid regulation C L HAMMARSTEDT 6 Sept 1973 [11 Sept 1972] 42039/73 Heading G3H [Also in Division F2] Flow of water to a tap is silenced by a plastics/ rubber tube 2 and a co-axial metal helical spring 3 fixed at one of their ends to a bushing 4 which is pressed into a nipple 1 connecting a supply pipe to the tap. The bushing has a reduced diameter portion on to which the tube is pushed and internal axial ribs 7 between which the end of the spring is pushed. Water flow is within the spring 3 and in the annulus between the spring and the tube which is surrounded by static water in the supply pipe. Holes may be provided in the tube adjacent the bushing 4. The helical spring may be replaced by a perforated/unperforated flexible plastics tube.
