Abstract

A submerged end of liquid-filled pipeline is recovered by inserting a one-way pigging device, supplying gas to the submerged end to move the device through the line while preventing entry of water, discontinuing the gas supply, and lifting the end, the device preventing reserse flow of liquid into the gas-filled section. Oil or other pipelines may be recovered for repair. The length of liquid-voided pipeline is minimized and pollution by ejected liquid can be avoided.
