Abstract

142,189. Barrett, J. C., and Ohnell, E. J. Jan. 29, 1919. Pendulum-weight apparatus.-Relates to a weighing-scale, and consists in mounting the pivots 9, Fig. 4, of a pendulum lever upon members 10 supported on knife-edges 12 and balanced by means of weights 10<b>. The scale pan or platform is connected by a hook 5, Fig. 3, to one or more pendulum levers 8, two being shown. Each pendulum lever has a slot 8<c>, wherein is secured the pivot shaft 9, each end of the shaft being supported upon two of the movable members 10. The pivot shaft 9 and the movable members 10 are each provided with intermeshing teeth 15, 16 for maintaining the moving parts in correct operative relation. The teeth 16 on the members 10 may be secured thereto by resilient means such as a blade spring a, or by the spring-controlled slot and screw connexion f, e, Fig. 5. The intermeshing teeth are constructed so as to clear one another when the pivots 9 and the movable members 10 are in their correct relative positions. The pendulum levers may be removed from the pivot shafts 9 for transport of the machine. The indicating-pointer is actuated by a cam attached to one of the pendulum levers 8.
