Abstract

1421887 Measuring shell bearings DAIDO METAL CO Ltd 11 July 1974 30769/74 Heading G1M A shell bearing B, Figs. 2 and 4, to be measured for thickness is stood on a plate 5 and is pressed against a convex surfaced stop member 6 by two tips Q, Figs. 5 and 3, of a part 32 which is held against the shell by a spring 39 until moved backwardly to release the shell by pivoting a lever 21 having a nose 25 engaging the end of an adjusting screw 35. A dial gauge 9 clamped by a screw 13 on an adjustable support 12 has a plunger 10 which extends between the tips Q and is arranged to read zero when the tip of the plunger extends beyond the tips Q and touches the stop member 6 when no bearing shell is in the measuring position. In operation, the lever 21 is pedal operated as in Fig. 7 (not shown) to press back the portion 32 and the shoulder 11 and the plunger 10 of the gauge, and a bearing shell B is inserted. When the lever 21 is released the tips Q and the plunger tip engage the shell and the gauge gives a reading of its thickness.
