Abstract

1421333 Coining TAYLOR & CHALLEN Ltd 11 July 1973 [21 July 1972 1 Sept 1972] 34157/72 and 40541/72 Heading B3Q Blanks 31, Fig. 2, are fed between the dies of a coining press by gripper arms 11, Fig. 1, on a slide 2 which is operated, through a linkage 5, by a cam 8 forming part of a cam assembly, a separate linkage operated through a respective cam 22 on the cam assembly controlling operation of the gripper arms 11, and a sliding connection 24, 26 in the gripper linkage allowing reciprocation of the slide and arms independently of operation of the gripper arms. As shown, the gripper arms 11 are mounted on pivots on the slide 2 and are operated by links 14 which are connected by adjustable eccentrics to a secondary slide 15, Fig. 2, on slide 2. The secondary slide is connected, through a spring 29 and a plunger 27, to a link 18 on one arm of a lever 17 pivoted on slide 2, the other arm of the lever carrying a slide 26 which runs in a slideway 24 in a member 23 driven by the cam 21. The main slide 2 is driven from the cam 8 by a lever 5 which is connected to the slide by a link 10. The lowermost blank 31 from an inclined shoot or a tube 34 is held against accidental movement by suction applied to a hole 36 beneath the blank. The leading edges of the grippers 11 may eject coined blanks. An adjustable eccentric is provided on the pivot 6 of lever 5.
