Abstract

1420195 Containers PLASTONA (JOHN WADDINGTON) Ltd and J SAINSBURY Ltd 8 Feb 1973 [15 Dec 1971] 58364/71 Heading B8P [Also in Division B5] Two hinged parts of a container, which may be a lid 12 and base 10 are held closed by means of a pressure sensitive adhesive A the adhesive strength of which can be overcome by manual pulling open of the container. The containers may have compartments for eggs or apples &c. or may comprise just a container body closed by a flat lid. In the egg box shown elongated projections 22 on transverse ribs 12c of the lid fit into corresponding recesses 20 in the base. The container parts may have de-nesting features which maintain the adhesive surfaces out of contact when the parts are nested. The containers or part thereof may be formed by printing an adhesive pattern on to a polyvinylchloride, polyethylene, polypropylene or polystyrene web and thermoforming the web. Examples of the adhesive are given.
