Abstract

1,240,515. Blister packages; cases. WILLIAM PRYM Inc. 1 Oct., 1968 [3 Oct., 1967], No. 46639/68. Headings B8C and B8P. An operable and closable blister package for display, storage and dispensing of articles 6 comprises a blister-shaped container 2 having an open side and a flat backing board 1 closing the open side of the container 2. The container 2 is provided with resilient walls 4 and a slit 9<SP>1</SP> the edges of which abut or overlap the slit being opened to remove articles 6 from the package by applying pressure in opposite directions to the walls 4 adjacent the ends of the slit. Release of the pressure allows the slit 9<SP>1</SP> to close. In the construction shown the container <SP>-</SP>2 is provided with an elliptical projection 8 which defines an elliptical depression in which the slit is formed. One wall of the slit consists of a slightly inwardly-directed lip 13. The container 2 is initially formed with perforations which are then joined to construct the slit (Figs. 1, 4, not shown). The container 2 is secured to the backing board 1 by heatsealing a flange 3 of the container to a plastics material layer on the backing board 1 or by stapling or other suitable means. The container may be moulded in one piece (as shown) or in two halves, the two halves being mounted relatively to each other to form the slit. The package may be provided with separate compartments and a slit being provided for each compartment.
