Abstract

1418707 Supporting overhead cables SIEMENS AG 6 June 1973 [6 June 1972 30 June 1972] 27092/73 Heading H2C Beam members 7, vertical members 8a, and posts 8 are added to an arrangement of transverse cables used for the alignment and support of overhead contact wires 5, above rail tracks 9, of a multi-track electric railway system. Members 7, 8a, constitute links in the tensioned transverse alignment cables 4, 6, which, together with longitudinal suspension cables 3 and the crossspan suspension cable 1a, form an otherwise conventional support system, stretched between masts 1. Field A, adjoining a mast, and field B, away from a mast, show alternative arrangements. In the event of damage, e.g. by a pantograph fouling an alignment cable, these arrangements minimize consequential damage to the overhead wires for neighbouring tracks. If posts 8 become broken, members 7, 8a can remain safely suspended from cable la. This latter feature is absent from a simpler arrangement of Fig. 1 (not shown), in which members 8a and links 12 are missing, and the posts 8 must then be of more robust construction, e.g. of slim rectangular section, extending along the side of the track.
