1418439 Valves JUNKERS & CO GmbH 15 March 1974 [19 March 1973] 11557/74 Heading F2V [Also in Division F4] A fitting for controlling the gas supply to a gas fired appliance comprises push-buttons 171, 181, 191 and 161 actuating respectively a thermoelectric safety valve 13, a main valve 14, a pilot valve 15 and a piezoelectric igniter 16, the buttons being interlocked by a transverse slide 20 movable against spring 201. The slide 20 is of U-shaped cross-section, the two limbs of which have openings co-operating with projections 172, 182, 192 on respective buttons. In the off-position shown in Fig. 1, all valves are closed, pilot valve button 191 being held in its depressed position by a surface 202 of slide 20. To light the appliance, safety valve button 171 is pressed, Fig. 2, causing button projection 172 to abut inclined surface 203 of slide 20, causing the latter to move leftwards and release projection 192 so that button 191 moves outwards to open pilot valve 15. Further depression of button 171 unseats safety valve closure 132 and urges it against an electromagnet. Button 161 can now be pressed to ignite the pilot burner whereupon an element heated thereby energizes the electromagnet to hold safety valve 13 open. Button 171 is now released and is held in a partially depressed position (Fig. 3) by the engagement of projection 172 against slide surface 205 as spring 201 urges the slide rightwards. In this position slide surface 206 clears projection 182, enabling button 181 to be depressured to unseat main valve closure 142 and simultaneously urge slide 20 leftwards to fully release button 171. Slide surface 208 holds button 181 in its depressed position (Fig. 4). Gas flow can be turned off by depressing button 191 to close pilot valve 15 and cause slide 20 to move leftwards to release main valve button 181. Closure of safety valve 13 follows.
