Abstract

The stem (12) of the gas valve is biassed upwardly by a spring so lug (11) engages in detent (13) preventing rotation of the valve into the open position. Depression followed by rotation of the stem opens the valve and causes lug (11) to engage a stop (18). Through the mechanical linkage (20, 19) the stem (5) of a solenoid valve is pushed to open the valve admitting gas to the main valve so the burner can be lit. Current from a heated thermocouple energises electromagnet (7) to hold the valve open.
