Abstract
1,160,768. Valves. RANCO CONTROLS Ltd. 17 Jan., 1968 [18 Oct., 1966], No. 46616/66. Heading F2V. [Also in Division F4] A gas valve has a slotted rotary disc 12 controlling flow from inlet 21 to a main burner outlet provided with a thermostatic valve 28, and to a secondary outlet 24 (Fig. 4), which provides an initial flow to the main burner and a feed to a valve 40 connected to the pilot burner. Disc 12 is urged to a position in which secondary outlet 24 is in communication with inlet 21, by spiral spring 13 which is tensioned by rotary movement of disc 12 to its closed position, and a catch 6, 14 holds the disc from being rotated by pin 9 to this position when the parts are as shown in Fig. 1. When a button 2 is depressed disc 5 is moved against the action of spring 15 so releasing catch 6, 14 and establishing a feed to outlet 24 and, simultaneously both closes contacts 30 to energize an igniter and depresses lever 43 (Fig. 4) to open pilot burner valve 40. Subsequent rotation of disc 12 through knob 1 opens the feed to valve 28 and sets its thermostat.
