Abstract

992,982. Valves. R. & A. MAIN Ltd. Nov. 13, 1963 [Oct. 24, 1962], No. 40322/62. Heading F2V. [Also in Division F4] A mechanism for controlling three gas valves supplying a burner comprises a plurality of pushbuttons 18 ... 22, each of the buttons 18 and 19 operating a different valve, each of the buttons 20, 21 operating a different pair of valves and the button 22 operating all three valves. The push-rods are slidable in slots in opposite members 10 of a rectangular frame and each has three projections 43, 44, 45 having inclined faces and adapted to engage three pivoted blades 24, 25, 26. Cutaways 52, 54 &c. are provided in the blades in the paths of some of the projections 43, 44, 45 and are arranged so that the push-buttons 18 ... 21 act on different single or pairs of blades and the push-rod 22 acts on all three blades. The blade 24 is connected by a transmission rod 34 to one valve, the blade 25 by a transmission rod 38 to the second valve and the blade 26 by a transmission rod 42 to the third valve. Each push-button is held in its operative position against the action of a return spring by a fourth blade 27 urged downwardly by a spring and adapted to engage a ratchet-like projection 28 on each push-button. Pushing any push-button into operative position raises the fourth blade to release any push-button already in operative position. An additional push-button 17 which does not engage the three valve-operating blades 24, 25, 26 as pushed in to release any of the other push-buttons from operative position and so close all the valves.
