Abstract

414,298. Keyboard switches. WALDTHAUSEN, C. A. T., 4, Rembrandtlaan, Naarden, Holland. Jan. 17, 1934, No. 1684. [Class 38 (v).] A set of switches for controlling a number of circuits are arranged so that only one circuit can be closed at a time. In the form shown, three circuits are arranged to be controlled by keys 1, 2, 3 which actuate contact mechanism not shown. On depression of a key, its lower end enters between a row of balls 10 in a trough 9 displacing them against the action of springs 11, 12 and thus preventing the depression of any other key. The operated key is retained in its depressed position against the action of its return spring 5 by the engagement of a notch 15 with the edge of a common locking bar 13 pivoted at 19 and controlled by a spring 14. A release key 4 which does not control any contact is provided with a smooth flange 18 which, on depression, moves the locking bar without being locked itself, and releases the operated key.
