In a device comprising two levers 1 and 4 (for control of heating and ventilation in a vehicle), one of the levers is slidable longitudinally to operate a switch, but when both levers are turned to one limit of travel the switch (if closed) is automatically opened. The levers 1 and 4 are pivoted on opposite sides of a base-plate 3 by a common pivot 2 and each drives a sector plate 10 and 16 respectively and are adapted to operate flexible control cables (not shown). Spring plungers, such as 13, co-operate with notches on plates 10 and 16 to locate the levers in selected positions. The lever 1 is slotted at 5 and passes through an upturned edge 11 of plate 10 so that the lever can be pushed in to cause a sliding contact 6 tobreak connection with an arcuate contact strip 7 and ride up on an insulating ridge 9. A member 17 with cam surface 18 is freely pivoted at 19 on base-plate 3 and has a tongue 23 which lies in the path of a peg 21 projecting from plate 16 through a slot 22 in the base-plate 3. When lever 4 is moved to its end position, as shown, the peg 21 moves cam surface 18 into the path of a peg 20 on lever 1. Thus, if contacts 6 and 7 had been previously closed they are opened as soon as lever 1 is moved to its corresponding end position. When either lever 1 or 4 is not in this end position the contacts 6 and 7 can be opened or closed manually by sliding lever 1 in or out. Specification 959,469 is referred to.
