Abstract

1417992 Mounting liquefied gas containers CONCH INTERNATIONAL METHANE Ltd 21 May 1973 [5 June 1972] 26129/72 Heading F4P A tanker, e.g. for over-water transportation of liquefied gas, has a tank 1 supported at its top wall against rolling movements of the tanker by a keyway 5 disposed longitudinally of the tanker and mounted on webs 5a on the top of the tank, and a key member 7 mounted between transverse girders 11, e.g. forming part of the tanker deck structure, bearer blocks 6 of thermally insulating material of substantial compressive strength being located between the co-operating faces of the keyway and key member, and the ends 13 of the key member 7 being slidably located by shear blocks 14, Fig. 4, on the transverse girders 11. Alternatively keyway 5 may be mounted on girders 11 and key member 7 on the tank top. A further keyway and key arrangement 15 may be provided to stabilize the tank against pitching movements of the tanker.
