Abstract
920,313. Storing liquefied gas. CONCH INTERNATIONAL METHANE Ltd. May 18, 1961 [Aug. 3, 1960], No. 18162/61. Class 8(2). [Also in Group XXXIII] A container for storing or transporting liquefied gas, comprises a rigid outer shell 1, e.g. the inner hull of a double hull ship, heat insulating material 2 and an inner tank 3 supported by the insulating material 18 adjacent the bottom wall of the shell 1, the vertical side walls of the tank 3 having keys 4 which fit into corresponding keyways 5, each keyway having a length larger than that of the corresponding key and a width substantially equal to that of the keys; alternatively the tank 3 may be provided with the keyways for engagement by the keys. As described with reference to Fig. 1 the keys 4 are secured to the tank 3, e.g. by welding, and the keyways 5 are in hardwood blocks 11 secured to the shell 1. The insulating material may be balsa wood or quippo and the tank 3 may be made of aluminium or stainless steel. Each side wall of the tank 3 may be provided with a pair of keys.
