Abstract

1302800 Liquefied gas tankers BRIDGESTONE LIQUEFIED GAS CO Ltd 11 Nov 1970 [29 Nov 1969 (2)] 53547/70 Headings B7A and B7S A method of constructing a tanker for liquefied gas having tanks of the membrane type comprises constructing separately the hull and the parts of the heat-insulating wall structures. The subsequent steps are:- (I) placing the bottom heat-insulating wall structure at the bottom of the hold; (II) installing the tank to rest on the bottom wall; (III) placing the side insulating walls between the tank and the sides of the hold; (IV) placing a top wall and a deck over the tank and (V) installing insulating wall structures at the edges and corners. The membrane may be made from nickelsteel, stainless steel or aluminium while the insulating walls may comprise wooden frameworks filled with foamed polyurethane or granulated pearlite.
