Abstract

1417736 Paper-making apparatus BELOIT CORP 15 Feb 1973 [24 Feb 1972] 7562/73 Heading D2A A headbox 12 for paper-making machines comprises a chamber 14 which receives, stock under pressure and from which the stock flows through tubes 15 for causing turbulence and then a mixing chamber 16 and a chamber 17 having in it plates 18 supported at their upstream ends only in an apertured plate 16a and carrying trailing flexible members 19. The plates 18 may be of polished stainless steel and the members 19 may be in the form of continuous plastic sheets or of thin plastic trailing strands which may be in aligned rows or arranged in random manner. An adjustable slice lip 24, Fig. 2 (not shown), is secured to a cylindrical bar which is clamped in adjusted position. The adjustment is by arms positioned at intervals along the lip so that the adjustment may vary over the length of the lip.
