Abstract
1417210 Pumps operating by electromagnetic interaction with fluids INTERATOM INTERNATIONALE ATOMREAKTORBAU GmbH 15 Aug 1973 [16 Aug 1972] 38651/73 Heading H2A An electromagnetic pump comprises a rod shaped member 7 of ferritic material disposed within and substantially parallel to a tube 1 so as to form between the member and tube a substantially annular flow passage 8, and a magnetic circuit disposed outside the tube, the circuit being arranged, in use, to pass a magnetic field across an electrically conductive fluid in the flow passage and thereby cause the fluid to move along the flow passage, the tube 1 being closed at one end 2 and the rod shaped member 7 being hollow. The fluid enters the pump at 4, is propelled along the flow passage and leaves through the hollow member 7. The magnetic circuit comprises six angularly spaced, axially extending, slotted, laminated cores 12 and a plurality of annular coils 15, each coil being located in the corresponding slots of all six cores. The coils are made of oxide insulated aluminium strip.
