Abstract

1416252 Hand tool handles FUTTERS (LONDON) Ltd 9 Feb 1973 6482/73 Heading B4K [Also in Division H2] In a hand tool such as a screwdriver, comprising an electrically-conductive shank member and an electrically-insulating handle member of resilient plastics material, the handle is mounted on the shank in snap-fitting engagement, such that flexure of the handle member by finger pressure can permit the shank member to be withdrawn lengthwise through the handle member, by virtue of a construction of similar type to that of the electrical connector plug shown in Fig. 1, in which a shank member 10 has a body portion 16 of hexagonal section, retained in snap-fitting engagement between shoulders 26 and 39 formed in the inner wall 18 of a resilient housing or handle member 12. By finger pressure shoulder 39 may be disengaged, permitting withdrawal of the shank member 10. Alternative means of snap-fitting engagement may consist of annular grooves and ribs or local pip projections between the engaging members, Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown).
