Abstract

1415265 Safety closures M B STULL 22 Aug 1973 [28 Aug 1972] 39896/73 Heading B8T A safety cap 10 comprises a cap body 12 coupled via a flexible hinge 26 with a closure cap 16 to sealably fit an opening 14 with the aid of a detent bead 24 on the cap 16 co-operatively engaging with a bead 22 on the cap body 12, the cap body 12 having a lug 28 with which is aligned a tab 37 of the cap 16 when in sealing position, whereby when the cap 16 is twisted relative to the cap body 12 the tab 37 is brought out of registration with the lug 28 to enable the tab 37 to be engaged by a finger for the disengagement of the cap 16 from the cap body 12. In other embodiments, Figs. 7, 8, 9 (not shown), the flexible hinge structure is serpentine and may be double. In yet another embodiment, Figs. 10-12 (not shown), the tab 37 extends around the cap 16 through an arc greater than 180 degrees.
