Abstract

1413563 Hot gas engine PHILIPS GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN NV 10 Jan 1973 [13 Jan 1972] 1261/73 Heading F1S A hot gas engine has a heater 9 comprising pipes 12, 14 parallel over at least part of their length and arranged in a ring about a space 11 through which combustion gases flow during engine operation, the heater supporting on one end of the pipes a burner device 17 having a combustion chamber 18 to which air and fuel are supplied, the chamber 18 being bounded by a fuel atomizing device 19 having an atomizer 20 which extends through an opening, the atomizing device being located in a wall of a housing 25 enveloping heater and burner device. The atomizing device 19 and the burner device 17 form a rigid assembly 24 which is displaceable relative to housing 25 in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the ring of heater pipes to follow length variations of the heater pipes caused by temperature variations, a flexible seal 35 being provided between the housing 25 and the assembly 24. The assembly 24 can be lifted out of plate 16 after detachment of the bellows at 36. If, as in Fig. 2 (not shown), a jacket (40) of insulating material is located between pre-heater 28 and annular duct 31, the bellows 35 are outside the housing 25 instead of inside it.
