Heat engine. The invention relates to a heat engine in which the liquid is closed in an all-round and permanently closed system, the wall of which has different, but constant temperatures at two different points ver, by a certain part of the wall is heated while another Part of the wall is not heated and may be specially cooled. The liquid respectively. their steam is set in a periodic pendulum motion and thereby alternately supplied to the hot and cold point,
whereby an alternating evaporation and condensation within the closed system is achieved. The totality of the liquid-vapor mixture in this system is referred to below as the working medium. The alternating evaporation and condensation creates periodic pressure fluctuations that are transferred to a movable organ, hereinafter referred to as the working organ, which delivers power and is connected to any power consuming machine.
According to the invention, the periodic movements of the working means are triggered by a control device that BEZW on certain values of the pressure. of the volume of the work equipment responds, and the work organ forms part of the MTandung of the closed system. Such a control device is expediently designed so that it looks at the moment in which it BEZW by exceeding a certain value of the pressure. Volume of the work equipment responds,
triggers a force that sets a displacer for the work equipment, and thus also the latter itself, in motion. In this case, the course of the periodic pendulum movements of the work is preferably carried out by means of without further influences by the said pressure BEZW. the volume.
The control device is expedient of this type. trained that it stores energy during the working organ and at the end of these strokes it triggers this stored energy, wodure.li. .the liquid moves jerkily and the transition between the evaporation and condensation periods is achieved.
By using such a control device, it is possible to maintain an automatic continuous operation without the heating having to be periodically interrupted or otherwise regulated, so that any heat sources, for example also burners for liquid fuels, can be used. The power can be regulated in a simple manner by changing the amount of heat supplied. The machine can be used for a variety of purposes, for example to drive pumps or compressors of small and medium power.
It is essential to the invention. that the transition between the evaporation and condensation periods occurs because the control device triggers the said pendulum movements of the working medium.
The control therefore does not influence the amount of heat to be supplied, and the subject matter of the invention therefore differs fundamentally from known supply lines in which the heating of the evaporator part of the closed system is periodically changed or. must be interrupted to keep the device running.
The control device provided according to the invention can be designed in various ways, for example as a mechanical tilting device, which is first tensioned and thereby provides an NVidersta.nd and then suddenly exerts an impulse when a labile middle position is exceeded, the said jerky movement the liquid causes. Frictional forces that affect the control device or throttle resistances that oppose the flow of the working medium can also be used for control. Finite tension springs can also be combined.
Forcibly controlled driving devices, for example ratchet locks, are used. The displacer operated by said control device can work within the closed system, in which case it changes the distribution of the liquid speed within this system, or it can form a movable part of the wall of this system, in which case it increases the volume of the System changes.
In the latter case, the displacer can be formed from a copy, but preferably from a bellows. which has the advantage that piston friction and the problem of sealing are eliminated. The same advantage is obtained if the working organ is designed as a spring neck, which organ in the rest of the same can consist of a Kol ben.
In the drawing, the subject invention is shown for example. FIGS. I to 4 schematically show various embodiments of the machine in longitudinal center section.
According to FIG. 1, an evaporator vessel 1 is finitely connected via a slightly conical bottom 2 heated by an electrical resistor 3: a condenser tube 4 which is provided with cooling fins 18 for effective dissipation of the condensation heat and to which a vessel 5 is connected below . With the sintered edge of the vessel 5, a bellows 6 with cover 7 is tightly verbun the. Likewise, the upper edge of the vessel 1 is with. a bellows 15 with cover 16 tightly connected.
The vessels 1 and 5 together with the pipe 4 and the two bellows 6 and 15 thus form a completely closed system to the outside. The interior of the two bellows 6 and 15 is connected to the outside air so that they move under the influence of the difference between the pressure prevailing in the closed system and the atmospheric pressure.
On the cover 16 of the upper bellows 15, a coupling rod 17 is attached, which the strokes this. bellows designated as working bellows zii to the outside, that is to say to any work-consuming device, for example a compressor or a pump.
A resilient bracket 12 is screwed to the cover 7 of the lower bellows 6, which is to be designated as a control bellows, whose downward sloping, outwardly resilient legs are provided with inwardly directed notches 13 at their ends. Similar notches 9 are formed at the lower ends of fastened on the underside of the vessel 5 supports 8 from. Between the notches 9 and 13, two rods 10 are mounted, which in the upper end position of the control bellows 6 are directed obliquely upwards inward, while in the lower end position of this bellows they assume the position indicated by dashed lines.
This toggle-like linkage forms a tilting device, the purpose and work of which is described below.
The system is filled with the liquid in a vacuum to such an extent that the liquid level, as shown, is just above the heating surface 2 when the control bellows 6 is in the upper end position shown. The closed system is ultimately filled with the liquid and its vapor and is free of air.
The tilting device 8, 10, 12 always seeks to close the control bellows 6 in one of its end positions: press and. provides .der vertical movement of this bellows out of the end position a resistance up to the stroke center, in which the rods 10 lie horizontally and thus exert no axial force component on the bellows.
In this central position there is the bellows 6 and with it the working equipment in the closed system in unstable equilibrium and when this position is exceeded, the tilting device exerts a strong force on the bellows 6 in the direction of the previous movements that jerk the bellows into his brings another end position. For the operation of the machine, it is of crucial importance that this sudden movement caused by the Kippvorrich device, but not by the change in pressure BEZW. Volume of the closed-new system is determined, as is described more clearly below.
The way the machine works is as follows: By switching on the heating resistor 3, the heating surface 2 is heated and the liquid begins to evaporate. The increasing pressure in the closed system moves the working bellows 15 with the rod 17 upwards (pressure stroke); the control bellows 6 remains immobile for the time being and is only brought jerkily into its lower end position by the tilting device when the internal pressure exceeds the axial force exerted by the tilting device.
The sudden downward movement of the control bellows 6 increases the volume of the closed system and the liquid sinks downwards, so that the liquid level reaches approximately the level of the lower end of the condenser tube 4. As a result, on the one hand, since the liquid leaves the heating surface 2, the white direct evaporation is interrupted, and on the other hand, the vapor enters the condenser tube 4 and is strongly condensed here. Since the pressure in the closed system decreases and the suction stroke of the working bellows 15 begins.
It should be noted that the continuously heated heating surface 2 has no influence on this pressure drop, since the heating only determines the pressure when the liquid is in contact with the heating surface, i.e. when steam is formed. The fall in pressure below atmospheric pressure due to condensation lasts until the control bellows 6 is snapped up by the Kippvorrich device.
This lifts the liquid into its original position, whereupon the following evaporation period begins. This game continues automatically without the heating being interrupted or regulated in any way.
It can be seen that the control bellows 6 acts in the manner of a displacer, the periodic movements of which result in a pendulum of the liquid, which enables the alternating evaporation and condensation. There. the heating coil remains switched on continuously during operation, heat is supplied to the heating surface during the condensation period that is not used for evaporation.
However, this does not result in a loss of heat, since this amount of heat results in an increase in temperature of the heating surface and benefits the evaporation in the next evaporation period.
The cooling of the condenser surface also has a similar effect during the evaporation period by overcooling the condenser tube 4 until the next condensation period.
The importance of the unstable characteristic imparted by the Kippvor direction of the controller goes. particularly clear. if the processes are considered that would occur without using a tilting device, i.e. with stable characteristics, the control bellows 6 would already follow the slightest differences between internal pressure in the closed system and atmospheric pressure. In such a case the control bellows 6 together with the liquid would:
right at the beginning of the evaporation period and long before an economical di @ uchliölie is reached, the liquid level would reach a point whose temperature is so low that no further evaporation takes place.
Since now the heating surface \? If no further heat is extracted, their temperature would rise excessively and heat would be radiated outwards. The liquid would have sunk to that point, the wall temperature of which corresponds exactly to the liquid temperature that is assigned to your current vapor pressure. From now on there would be no reason to change the pressure, a state of equilibrium would arise and the device would come to rest.
If the liquid level were to drop somewhat, the vapor pressure would immediately drop due to condensation and the control bellows would rise, whereby the previous liquid level would be reached again. Conversely, if the liquid level rises, the pressure would rise due to evaporation and the level would be reset again when the control bellows sink. However, a work transfer through the working bellows 15 would be impossible.
Various changes are possible compared to the embodiment described. The tilting device can be designed in different ways. because it should only meet the condition of giving the control an unstable characteristic. Pistons can be used instead of bellows. The condenser surface can also be cooled by liquid cooling, for example using the thermosiphon system.
As a result of the much higher heat transfer, the 1% ondensator field can be made smaller in this case, which can be particularly important in machines with greater power, since the required volume of the control bellows 6 can then be relatively lower.
According to Fig.? Parts 1 to 7 and 15) to 18 are arranged in the same way as in FIG. and trained. The one to reduce the harmful space with a stationary, self-contained filling body 8? The condenser tube 4 provided is closed off from the evaporator vessel 1 by a plate 54 into which a short capillary or throttle tube 55 is soldered, and the central opening 57 of which can be closed at the top by a valve 56. Above the valve 56 is. a tube 58 is attached to the plate 54 and extends somewhat above the highest liquid level.
The condenser tube 4 can be locked at the bottom against the vessel 5 by a slightly movable plate valve 59, which is pressed against its seat 61 by a spring 6 (1 and a throttle tube 6 is also soldered into it.
With the beginning of evaporation in vessel 1, the flow of liquid begins to flow downwards due to the increasing pressure in this vessel. The valve 56 is closed and the capillary tube 55 delays the outflow of the liquid to such an extent that a considerable vapor pressure can arise during this time.
As soon as the liquid above the plate 54 has expired, vapor passes through the capillary tube 55, which, due to its much lower viscosity, has a much lower resistance in the capillary tube, so that a rapid pressure equalization now takes place between the spaces connected by the same. The flow of the liquid from the vessel 5 with the lowering of the bellows 6 finds practically no resistance, since the lower valve 59 opens even at low overpressures and has a large opening cross-section.
As soon as a sufficient area of the condenser tube 4 becomes free, the condensation begins and when the pressure has dropped below the pressure prevailing in the vessel 5, the lower valve 59 is closed and the liquid rises through the lower capillary tube 62, releasing the bellows 6 . Here, too, there is a strong throttling, which delays the passage so that in the meantime a stronger negative pressure has set in the condenser tube 4, which continues through the capillary tube 55 into the evaporator vessel.
The liquid now rises through the slightly opening valve 56 into the evaporator vessel 1 until the pressure rises to a higher level than the pressure prevailing over the control bellows 6 through the steam formed.
It can be seen that the delay caused by the throttle devices in the periodic movement of the working means acts in a similar way to the delay caused by the tensioning of a tilting device (FIG. 1). This throttle device responds to a certain volume of the working fluid, since the point in time at which the liquid flow in the capillary tube is replaced by a steam flow is a function of the steam volume.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 3, a cylindrical vessel 90 is closed at the top by a cap 91 and merges into an enlarged part 92 at the bottom. the lower edge of which is attached a working bellows 93 which merges into a piston 94 at the top. The end wall 95 of the Kobens 94 carries on the one hand the rod 17 and on the other hand resilient Stüt zen 8 of the tilting device formed approximately according to FIG. The rods 10 of this tilting device are based on the inside in notches of a rod 96 which is fastened to the bottom of a zy-cylindrical, hollow displacement body 97 BE.
In the vessel 90 a wall 99 provided with openings 98 is attached, on which coil springs 100, 101 are supported above and below. The spring 101 is supported on the other hand on a collar 102 sitting on the rod 96, and the spring 100 (in the case of a corresponding mutual position) on the bottom of the displacer 97. The jacket 103 of the cap 91 serves as a heating surface and is provided with the heating resistor 104. 105 are vertical cooling fins. On the end wall 95 of the piston 94, a bracket 106 is also fastened.
The rod 96 passes through a hole in this bracket and carries a collar 107 at its end.
In the position shown, the machine is at the end of the condensation period BEZW. of the suction stroke of the dome rod 17. The working bellows 93 and his Kol ben 94 are thus in their highest position. During the suction stroke, the tilting device 8, 10 has to bear the movement of the piston 94 in full on the rod 96 and thus on the displacer 97. The distance a between the displacer 97 and the piston 94 is thus constant ben, and only the spring 101 was tensioned.
The diameter of the displacer 97 is now selected such that it is the same as the effective diameter of the bellows 93. The effective diameter of the bellows is to be understood here as the diameter of a piston which, with the same stroke, results in the same stroke volume (displaced volume) as the bellows. If the liquid space of the closed system is thus reduced by the upward movement of the bellows 93, this space is increased by the same amount by the lifting of the displacer 9 7 and vice versa.
It follows from this that the movements of the working bellows 93 do not cause any fluctuations in the liquid level. It is of course a prerequisite here that the distance a remains constant during the working strokes, which is achieved by a sufficiently powerful 3tisbildutrg of the tilting device 8, 10.
Keeping the liquid level constant during the evaporation utrd condensation period is of great advantage because, as can be seen in the drawing, the amount of liquid to be evaporated is determined by the annular evaporator between the heating surface and the displacer.
and the harmful rauire kept small and so it is increased with the efficiency of the device. In addition, the free liquid level is reduced to a minimum. since its surface corresponds only to the ring section between the displacer 97 and the heating surface 103.
-After completion of the suction jack: the tilting device 8, 10 is finally reversed by the pressure of the spring 101, the stalls 10 being inclined inwards to downwards. As a result, the displacer 97 is pulled jerkily downwards, that is to say the distance a is reduced.
(The stroke of the displacer 9 7 with respect to the piston 94 is determined by the permitted play of the collar 107 within the bracket 1 (l6.) By reducing the distance a, liquid is pressed upwards so that the heating surface 103 is flooded and the evaporation period begins.
During this, the bellows 93 together with the piston 94 and displacer 97 sinks at a constant distance cz and a constant liquid level, until finally, after the spring 100 has been tensioned, the tilting device 8, 10 is set into the position shown. This increases the distance a, the liquid sinks from the heating surface and from part of the condenser surface and the condensation period begins, at the end of which the device assumes the position shown.
The piston 94 could also be omitted, in which case the coupling rod 17, the supports 8 and the bracket 10 would sit directly on the cover 95 'of the bellows 93, indicated by dashed lines. However, the arrangement of the piston 94 has the following advantage.
The diameter of this piston corresponds equally to the effective diameter of the bellows <B> 93. </B> The piston 94 therefore has a similar thread as the displacer 97, namely in that when the Bellows 93 of the roughness z -isclien the bellows 94 iind your lxeführteil 9? its size does not change.
so that during the movements of the bellows 1.13 through the annular gap between piston 94 and vessel <B> 90 </B> no liquid flows back and forth. Despite this, the piston 94 does not slide diagonally in the vessel 90,
the parts of the liquid lying above and below the piston 94 are kept permanently unsealed. The liquid enclosed between the bellows 93 and the tea-holder part 4_i therefore absorbs the liquid flowing in front of the piston 94
Heating is not essentially part, which improves the efficiency and avoids any harmful thermal expansion of the liquid, especially if the liquid space below the piston 94 is relatively large.
As already noted, in order to achieve a favorable degree of efficiency it is desirable that there is only as much liquid in the evaporation space as is just necessary to generate the necessary amount of steam.
If the liquid is pushed upwards by the jerky descent of the displacer 9 7 at high speed in the ring between the displacer and the vessel <B> 90 </B>, it could possibly reach the tip due to the living energy absorbed the cap 91 snap up, that is.
get into the Vordanipfer to a greater extent than necessary and desired. To prevent such a process is. As can be seen in FIG. 3, the inner diameter of the cap 91 narrows in the area of the heating surface 103, so that the liquid is throttled when it rises through the narrow annular gap and therefore only executes those movements that are forcibly caused by the displacer 97.
4 shows a further embodiment of the machine according to FIG. 3. The parts 17, 90, 91, 92, 93, 103, 104 and 105 are designed similarly and work in the same way as according to FIG. 3. The piston 94 is here however, it is omitted and the closed system is closed at the bottom by a pot-like body 110 attached to the working bellows 93.
Here, too, a control device is provided which produces a rigid connection between bellows 93 and displacer 9 7 during the work strokes and jerks the displacer relative to the bellows between the working strokes. However, this control device here does not consist of an outright tilting device, but of a ratchet mechanism described below.
A spindle 111 is firmly connected to the pot-like body 110, in which two pawls 113 and 114 are pivotably mounted at 112, which are constantly pressed outwards by helical springs 115. On the Spin del 111 a sleeve 116 is slidably ge leads, which is provided with two opposite, ver set longitudinal slots 117 through which cam-like extensions 118, 119 of the pawls 113, 114 protrude. An annular abutment 120 is fastened to the vessel 90, against which springs 121, 122 are supported below and above,
the other hand on the collars 123 respectively. 124 of the sleeve I16 lie on. Inclined surfaces 125 for controlling the cams 118, 119 are formed at both ends of the abutment 120. In the vicinity of the ends of the tube 116 latches 126 respectively. 127 formed, in which the locking tooth-like ends of the pawls 113, 114 can fall.
The upper end of the tube 116 is connected by means of a small spring bellows 128 to a spring plate 129, which acts with interconnection of coil springs 130, 131 on a sleeve 132 firmly connected to the displacer 97. In the following description of the mode of operation of the machine, for the sake of simplicity it is initially assumed that the tube 116 with the displacer 97 is rigid, that is to say without the interposition of the parts 128 to 132, < / B> is connected.
During the condensation period (suction stroke) the working bellows 93 moves upwards together with the spindle 111 and the pawl 114 engaging in the detent 127 takes the sleeve 116 and the displacer 97 with it, the spring 122 being tensioned (position of the machine shown). Towards the end of the suction stroke, the cam 119 of the pawl 114 strikes against the inclined surface 125 of the abutment 120,
whereby the ratchet of this pawl is withdrawn from the detent 127 and the spring 122 moves the sleeve 116 and the displacer 97 jerk-like downward. This initiates the evaporation period in the manner described for FIG. The ratchet tooth of the pawl 113 now engages in the detent 126, so that the working bellows 93, which goes down, takes the displacer 97 with it under the tension of the spring 121.
Finally, the pawl 113 is lifted out of the detent 126 by striking its cam 118 against the inclined surface 125, whereby the spring 121 snaps the displacer 97 up again and the condensation period is initiated, whereupon the processes described repeat themselves. The distance between working bellows 93 and displacer 97 is thus constant during the working strokes and is only changed between the strokes for reversal.
For the machine to function properly, it is necessary that after each reversal of the working bellows 93 with the displacer 97 is coupled again by engaging one of the pawls 113, 114, which is only the case when the relative displacement between the working bellows and the displacer reached their full measure. This can be called into question under certain circumstances, for example with strongly changing operating conditions and with regard to the throttle resistance that the narrow annular space between the vessel 90 and the displacer 97 opposes a displacement of the latter, especially if the use of particularly strong springs 121, <B> 129- </B> is not desired.
In order to ensure that one of the pawls falls after the relative displacement between the displacer 97 and the working bellows 98 even in such a case, the sleeve 116 with the displacer 97 is not rigid, but rather connected with the interposition of the springs 130, 131.
(In the following Dar laying, the small bellows 128 is provisionally regarded as a rigid body.) This resilient connection is a certain In dependence of the movement of the sleeve 116 respectively. of the working bellows 93 is achieved by that of the displacer 97 by, for example, when reversing to the evaporation period, ie when lifting the pawl 124, the spring 122 in any case moves the sleeve 116 down until the pawl 113 can collapse.
If the resistance to the lowering of the displacer 97 is particularly great, then it is slowly tightened by the spring 131, that is to say it hurries after the sleeve 116. The analogous case occurs when reversing to the condensation period. It should be noted here that the springs 130, 131 are weaker than the springs 121, 122.
The purpose of the small bellows 128 is as follows: As already noted earlier, it is important for achieving a good efficiency that the liquid level always has a precisely defined height during the evaporation period. However, this is difficult to achieve because of the inevitable thermal expansion of the liquid under order. If the liquid now heats up, the small bellows 128 expands and lifts the displacer 97 a little, whereby a lifting of the liquid keitsspiegel is compensated for due to the thermal expansion.
This compensation is perfect if, with the same expansion coefficients of the filling liquid in the small bellows 128 and the evaporation liquid, the effective diameter of the bellows <B> 128 </B> is related to the diameter of the displacer 97 as the volume of the evaporation fluid to the volume of the filling fluid in the bellows 128.
