Abstract

1411327 Fuel injection pumps KLOCKNERHUMBOLDT-DEUTZ AG 31 Aug 1973 [20 Sept 1972] 41181/73 Heading F1A A fuel injection pump 1 having an actuating cam 11 receives fuel from a feed pump 3, the feed pump 3 being provided with flanges 4, 6 for abutment, respectively, with the pump 1 and a filter 2 through which the feed pump delivery passes before entering the injection pump 1. The feed pump may be a diaphragm pump or, as shown, a piston pump comprising a plunger 10 reciprocable by the cam 11 to cause reciprocation of a pumping piston 15 in a cylinder 14. Fuel enters the cylinder space 20 through a suction valve 22 and is discharged through a delivery valve 24 whereafter it flows through the filter 2 leaving through a hollow spigot 8 on to which the body of the filter is screwed. A priming piston having a push button 19 is coaxially arranged in an extension of the cylinder 14. The space 27 on the side of the piston 15 remote from the cylinder space 20 is connected by a passage 28 to the filter 2. Fuel enters this space 27 when fuel is discharged from the space 20 and is forced back into the filter 2 and out through the spigot 8 by a return spring 18, during filling of the space 20.
